Workers were clearing out the storefront yesterday at 440 E. 14th St. … carting off the remnants in these bags…

As previously noted, the store owners lost their lease … joining former next-door neighbor Stuyvesant Stationery in that club here just west of Avenue A.
With the departure of the Peter Stuyvesant Post Office, there are now three, single-level storefronts sitting vacant … presumably to make way for some future development.

Where will I go for worthless crap now?
You could always go to the dollar store south of Rite-Aid between 5th and 4th Streets...or were you being ironic?
Nothing left of this neighborhood. Just slowly becoming a yuppie/hipster den of disgust.20 years ago they would never set foot in the neighborhood.I miss it . Now even the post office has fallen. Is nothing sacred?
People seriously miss this shitty 99 cent store and perhaps the worst post office in the country? I can understand lamenting the new 711s and chase banks, but come on. The real loss was 14th street between ave B and ave A.
Whatever's coming is sure to be awesome.
I surely will miss this store. Amazing selection of very cheap wrapping paper with off-register Santas, bows and ribbons, tin pans for thanksgiving turkeys and parties, plastic buckets and containers just when you need one but don't want to pay $20.
But I agree with 2:20, I'd choose bargain bazaar any day.
