The East Village Love Saves the Day closed on Jan. 18, 2009. Word was their rent tripled.
Their location remains open in New Hope, Pa.
The deadly Second Avenue gas explosion in March 2015 destroyed three buildings here, including the space (119 Second Ave.) that housed the shop for 43 years.
We've seen other tile art for some longtime businesses that are no longer with us, such as outside the former Stage across Second Avenue.
And a happy birthday to Madonna!
ReplyDeleteMemories! Then the space became a middling ramen joint, which I grudgingly tried.
ReplyDeleteI regret never having visited that store. The ground floor retail space has been vacant since the building opened. Why is that?
ReplyDeleteAh, was perfect for some last-minute Wigstock shopping. Miss it.
ReplyDeletemiss that place
ReplyDeleteI miss LSD dearly, but am thankful that they are alive and well in New Hope rather than incinerated in the explosion.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was making my daughter’s Halloween costume, ( she went as a picnic) I desperately needed plastic ants for the red and white checked table cloth. Love Saved the Day.
