What it will cost to rent the former Shima space on Second Avenue

Just a quick follow-up from Monday's post about the now-closed Shima being for lease on Second Avenue and East 12th Street.

At the time, the listing wasn't online just yet at the Newmark Grubb Knight Frank website.

Now it is.



The rental rate is $185 a square foot … the available space is 1,650 feet. So if you do a little math… [Pausing to do a little math] Oh, just a little more than $25,400 per month.

Shima space for lease on Second Avenue

The "for lease" banners have arrived at Shima, the Japanese restaurant on Second Avenue and East 12th Street that abruptly closed last month.

No sign, however, of the listing just yet at the Newmark Grubb Knight Frank website.

Shima's sister restaurant Sapporo East on First Avenue and East 10th Street also closed last month.

As we noted earlier last month, sister restaurants Sapporo East and Shima suddenly closed without any warning (to diners anyway).

Per the notice on the door at Shima … the Marshal has seized the restaurant on Second Avenue and East 12th Street …



A "for rent" sign can't be too far behind here. Meanwhile, we didn't spot any notices at Sapporo East over on First Avenue and East 10th Street.
