An EVG reader shared this photo from 6:30 this morning... as seen on the corner of Clinton and Houston — a green cab atop a safety bollard... did the driver confuse the accelerator with the brake?

2nd Avenue cab crash

Derek Berg came across this scene this morning just before 8 on Second Avenue at St. Mark's Place... unfortunately, we don't know what caused the cab driver to crash into the curb and send the trash can toward Gem Spa's entrance...

No one was injured... and thankfully this didn't happen at 8 a.m. on a non-holiday Monday...

Cab needs a Lyft on 6th Street

Well, that sucks... Goggla shares these photos from this afternoon's downpour... when a cab got stuck in a deceiving, rain-filled hole in a construction zone on Sixth Street between First Avenue and Avenue A...

A cab collision on Union Square

EVG reader Mitchell Schneider shared these photos from about 4:40 this afternoon... the aftermath of a collision between a cab and U-Haul on East 15th Street...

Not a lot of details at the moment here between Irving Place and Union Square East... one witness said that the cab was speeding and rammed the U-Haul ... and EMTs were bringing one person (the cab driver?) to an ambulance... we'll update if we receive more information...

There isn't any official word on cause or extent of injuries. Charlie saw one passenger in a neck brace at the scene and EMTs placing another passenger on a stretcher.

Lost and found: This cab on 3rd Avenue

From late this afternoon... EVR reader @tedroden spotted this on Third Avenue at East Ninth Street. Abandoned. All alone.
Per Ted: "Nobody was around it even. No sign of driver. No cops. Nothing."

This happened about 10 minutes ago on Avenue B and East Third Street…

What's with all the cabs parked on Avenue A?
That's what a reader asked yesterday after seeing cabs lined up on Avenue A the past few days... EVG regular Creature noted this too with the following three photos...
[From Thursday via Bobby Williams]
I didn't see all this myself... and really have no idea. Anyone know?
Updated: Thanks. Answer in the comments.

[UPDATED] Reader report: Passenger shoots out cab window on Avenue A
Matt LES_Miserable passes along the following... tonight on Avenue A near 14th Street...
As you can see, someone blew out the window of this cab...
The police were on the scene. According to Matt, the driver was very shaken up... He told Matt that a passenger "shot out" his window ... perhaps a dispute over the fare?
UPDATED:
Garth Johnston followed up on this story today at Gothamist... Unfortunately, not much else is known. Per the post:

When we called the NYPD's DCPI they had no information on the incident. Curiouser though, when we tried to reach out directly to the Ninth Precinct this morning nobody answered the phone either on the main line or at the community affairs desk. Finally, the TLC couldn't help illuminate the situation as these sorts of things apparently aren't even reported to them by the NYPD.

When a cab ride will (nearly) cost you an arm and a leg (well, at least an arm)

From the NYPD Daily Blotter in the Post today:
A hack from hell rolled up the window on the arm of a man and dragged him for several blocks through the East Village, law-enforcement sources said.
The victim had accidentally left his cellphone in Eddy Brizard's cab on East Houston Street early Saturday morning, the sources said.
Brizard, 56, somehow tracked him down and brought back the phone, but then demanded $20, the sources said.
The man said he didn't have the cash and tried to snatch the phone back through the window -- but the driver allegedly raised the window and snagged the victim's arm.
Brizard was charged with robbery, assault and reckless endangerment, and his hack license was suspended, said a Taxi and Limousine Commission spokesman. The victim was not seriously hurt.

U-turn like this, and you'll likely be hit
Given some of the taxi tomfoolery I see (quick stops, illegal turns, etc., etc.), I'm surprised that I haven't encountered more scenes like this on Avenue A last night between Ninth and 10th streets...

Bob Arihood, on the beat one last time, captured the T-boned cab making an illegal u-turn... and getting popped by the other cab...
