Catching up with Bella McFadden of iGirl

We stopped by the new iGirl shop the other day at 166 Orchard St., between Stanton and Rivington. 

The all-new storefront debuted on Sept. 2, after a quick two-week renovation, and marks a move from Third Street, where Bella McFadden — aka Internet Girl — had been for nearly 16 months.

The new space is much larger than the previous shop. 

"Since we use the space for admin and we needed a stock room for order fulfillment, this was the ideal street and size," McFadden said. "There is more foot traffic here. Orchard Street is a destination. Third Street was a more residential block."

The expansion coincides with iGirl moving further into apparel. McFadden is particularly proud of a new collaboration with Lip Service, while the shop also now carries Leg Avenue tights — something many customers had asked for.

iGirl continues to showcase McFadden's jewelry, accessories, and designs, which reflect Y2K emo, mall goth, and punk subcultures.

The shop is open daily from noon to 7 p.m.

After nearly 16 months at 150 E. Third St., just east of Avenue A, Bella McFadden, aka Internet Girl, has relocated her shop to a larger space on the Lower East Side.

The all-new iGirl storefront debuted on Sept. 2, a short walk away at 166 Orchard St. between Stanton and Rivington.

The brand, which captures the essence of Y2K emo culture, mall goths, and punk subculture, features McFadden's designs, jewelry, and apparel. 

The shop is open daily from noon to 7 p.m.

Bella McFadden, aka Internet Girl, will open her flagship shop on Saturday at 150 E. Third St., just east of Avenue A.

"I'm excited to meet the community and be part of it," said McFadden, who moved to the East Village last fall. "Everyone's been more than kind. I can't wait to be immersed."

Starting in her teens, McFadden, now 28, was an avid thrifter and eventually became the first-ever seller to earn more than $1 million on the Depop app. She later launched her own website for her iGirl brand.

The iGirl shop, a unique space that embodies the spirit of Y2K emo culture, mall goths, and punk subculture, will showcase McFadden's designs, jewelry, and apparel. Catering to a diverse audience, including high school and college ages, teens to early 30s, the shop will also feature a few exclusive designs that can only be found in-store.

McFadden  has "restocked some coveted pieces and rare and never-seen-before on website merchandise." Pieces will be "evolving and seasonal, with jewelry, cuffs, belts, bags, iGirl everywhere."

On opening day, the first 50 people will receive a free iGirl gift, and there will also be candy and treats.

An online vintage clothing sensation is making the East Village home to her first storefront. 

Bella McFadden, aka Internet Girl, will open her shop later this spring at 150 E. Third St. just east of Avenue A (the former home of East Village Buyers, who moved to the avenue). 

Starting in her teens, McFadden, now 28, was an avid thrifter and eventually became the first-ever seller to earn more than $1 million on the Depop app. She later launched her own website for her iGirl brand, "inspired by Y2K emo culture, mall goths and punk subculture." 

This past September, McFadden, originally from Canada, moved to the East Village. She only looked to open a store in her new neighborhood, noting the space was in her budget. She signed an 18-month lease.

"It's my first time with a storefront, so I wanted to test the waters and not sign a long-term lease," McFadden said.

The store will also be called iGirl, selling McFadden's designs, jewelry, and apparel for her target audience, which includes "high school and college fans, teens to early 30s." McFadden, who has a sizable social media following (TikTok, YouTube, et al.), also plans to drop a few exclusive designs that are only available in-store and not online. 

She hopes to open by the end of April or early May. 

"I feel this is a really safe space for a Tumblr girl," said McFadden, who started using the platform in the 10th grade. "My haven and my roots, a place for those girls to connect and unite."
