After 16 years at 64 Avenue A, Exit 9 is moving. June 19 will be the last day here for the gifts-and-novelties shop. Per the sign on the front door, the store has outgrown its space.
Lovely neighbors, sweet store (their Japanese tabi and kooky print knee socks were my go-to gifts!) and they donated gift certs to the local public schools' auctions. I too hope they stay in the nabe, tho I'll visit the other location when I'm in Cobble Hill.
Damn, I buy a lot of gifts there. I'm glad they're expanding enough to need a bigger space, but this is worrisome...Mod World was supposed to re-open on the internet and they never did.
it's o.k. exit nine is leaving. too expensive. most often purchase potential was a thrill gift wanted as a request from our little one's having viewed it in the window. Tho, what comes next might offer more enticements. and more expensive. Not a neighborhood for families. tho is manhattan a place for mom's with out dad's called families? What is going on?????

That's too bad. I always counted on Exit 9 as a great place to find last-minute gifts. I hope they find another space in the neighborhood.
Great store, wonderful people, nice neighbors. They still have a location in Brooklyn, I wish them well. Sad to see them go.
A favorite shop of mine. I hope they stay in the hood.

too bad. they were great for the last-minute gift, Hannukah and whatnot. and the proprietor was a great aficionado of unique eyeglasses.

Loved that place, staff very helpful and funny. And, yes, like everyone else, when I'd forgotten a birthday, I ran over there.
Cool place. I heard that they were moving across the street into one of the empty retail spots in the Ageloff Towers.
@Anonymous: I have no idea what you are talking about, except that maybe you have a problem with single mothers.
