I hope for their own sake these people leave. It's no fun being stuck in a high rise with no elevators, no electricity and flooded streets. They have been given fair warning and should listen.
Probably not just public housing in the EV, Goggla. Con Ed is talking about shutting down power preventatively in Zone A in Lower Manhattan. The idea being that salt water causes less damage to power cables when the power's off. Since the East River is salt water, Zone A in the EV, LES, Stuy Town, and even Murray Hill can probably count on getting our power cut too.
My bad. The word "preventatively" was used in a press conference this afternoon with reference to shutting down elevators in Zone A public housing, so if power does go out, people won't get trapped in them.
Con Ed people are saying power will only be cut if flooding in low lying Zone A occurs. But at this point, flooding is looking inevitable.

Yeah, they're not trying to hurt us by shutting down the power. Doing so will make it easier for them to get it back up later.
well i think they should have made the public well aware of this BEFORE they shut down the entire rapid transit system.
