This week in reminders of how luxurious the Bowery has become
A penthouse at 250 Bowery is in contract for $2,500 per square foot, supposedly a record for the area. The home sold for nearly $3.9 million total. (The Real Deal)
Anyone looking to buy a place on this part of the Bowery should require a one-night sleepover before putting their money down. As someone who lives here I can truthfully say that you don't know the Bowery until you've tried to sleep here from 4-8am. The 18-wheel trucks racing up the boulevard will greet you each morning... with an unbearable rumble. The buildings shake, the sound is un-sleepable... one after the other. A visit and a walkthrough - you have no idea what you're getting into. Calling it "luxurious" doesn't make it so. There are good reasons why such a wide road is a retail/business zone, not residential.
