I apparently dozed off for a while. Where the fuck am I?

Rip Van Grieve nothing has changed we still have shavery.

The floor to ceiling glass windows are a bit tired. Are our new occupants so timid they can't patronize a business without first inspecting it inside out from a distance?

Tried the snow cream, and while it was good, fuck, it wasn't what I was hoping for, which is a Taiwanese style snow ice. Which is a silky, ribbony otherworldly concoction. What Snow Days is selling is more or less like ice cream, if a little icier. Good flavors though, and big portions.

I was walking across the street from the "shavery", saw the sign, and honestly thought, "Wow, that's a damn big new barbershop!" I predict a swift demise based on the incomprehensibility of their name, which is trying waaaaay too hard.

I'm not familiar with Chinese snow ice, but I'm psyched to try this.

The third world just called and it asked if we have lost our collected fucking minds? Eat to survive and be healthy stop using food as lifestyle defining, entertainment and the lust of your lives.

Looks like a lot of overhead for a shaved ice place. There's money in shaved ice?

Is that why I don't see the older Puerto/NuYorican men with their shaved ice carts anymore? They already struck it rich and are now living by the beach in PR?

Anon. 12:54 - Go to the corner of 12th and B any halfway decent day and you'll find a shaved ice guy holding court on the southeast corner of the block there. His coconut is the best, IMHO.

Gotta agree with Gojira on the coconut - it's a solid experience. There's a couple of other street vendors who are within a block of the school on 6th and B.

I'm all for shaved ice, but there's no way in hell the word "shavery" will ever come out of the mouth. Can't imagine what the prices of this place are going to be - guess I'll stick to my street finds.

Why all the hate for the shaved ice place? We tried it out and thought it was very good. Will be going back. Took a bit of getting used to the texture but the taste was excellent, and it's lighter than gelato or ice cream (and I don't like frozen yo). The smallest size was still huge (around $5?), but we shared it. They should offer smaller individual sizes. The proprietors are young guys, very friendly.

I think it's an addition to the neighborhood. The old Vinyl Market space was empty so long that I'm glad to see some life in that space. It's welcoming and friendly and they make a good product. Why hate it?

I notice that on Yelp people are really taken with the color-changing spoons at Snowdays:

No mention whether they serve it in a hoof.

Perfect timing. Labor day and the fall are just days away.

Thanks for the reminder, 12:52. Genuinely sorry so few think this way.
And yes, the all glass top to bottom window trend is just so MALL-ESQUE. When are they going to drape a glass roof over the nabe?
