Record Store Day:
The day posers who turned their noses up at vinyl 1988-2010 pretend to be people who have supported vinyl all along/since (pick your year before 1990) like myself.
Also the day record stores overcharge for reissues of readily available shit for the nerds who come to the store only to buy stuff to flip.
Funny you mention 1988... That was the year I decided to give up vinyl. Other than Tuli Kupferberg's No Deposit No Return and Godley & Creme's Ismism (which - eek! I just found out are BOTH obtainable now) I've been ok without vinyl. However!!!! I am thrilled to pieces that vinyl is being embraced by Millennials. I liken the difference between CDs and records to the diff between a recording and a live performance. There's just something extra-special about stax'o'wax!!! Xxxooo - from an EVer who used to own 2k LPs - and a but load of singles. Actually: I used to deal in rare records the way some of my friends dealt pot lol. P.S.: Millennials - you have GOT to check out some 78s. Same yumminess as 12"ers.
Just for the heck of it, I took a look at record prices at Strand Bookstore today, when I was downstairs. $22 for Sonic Youth?! This is definitely a niche market, regardless of the age of the buyer.
