Did you lose your guinea pig?

Consensus around the Park is that the sign is a fake.

Please explain why consensus is that the sign is a fake?

Irresponsible individuals releasing domestic animals into the wild is a serious problem and should not be taken lightly. If they're not found and rescued, this is a death sentence for the animal.

I just did a search on that phone number a reverse number lookup site. Claims it is a landline. So if it's a hoax… Then is it somebody's ex-boyfriend trying to annoy them? And if so… why not do something more annoying then get a call about a guinea pig?

Christo and/or Dora may have made short work of said guinea pig (if there really was a guinea pig on the loose in the park).

Don't you remember those people who put up the signs about the lost dog and then tied a dog outside a store just to see if anyone would notice? They videotaped everyone as part of a social experiment. This is the same shit, different day.

A friend had to babysit her daughter's class guinea pig over the school's spring break -- is it possible someone just dumped the animal due to holiday closure/travel?

As I recall there was a release of a number of guinea pigs in Prospect Park a few years ago. Irresponsible owners will do things like that. In the Prospect Park case, I belleve that uist of them were rounded up and adopted out by a Brooklyn animal rescue organization.

My two pigs were left in a too-small cage on 86th & Lex last summer with a "free" sign stuck to it.
