A crew was out early (7 a.m.) to put up the stage for today's HC show in Tompkins Square Park.
The bill features Madball, Murphy's Law, Bloodclot, Wisdom in Chains and the Capturers (plus DJ Franky 2Far). There's a noon start time, per the flyers, though a worker said the show starts at 2.
It’s more relevant than that, it fills Thompkins Sq Park all summer. It’s one of my favorite activities to go enjoy the Rock music in the park and observe all the upset college kids who didn’t expect it and are just trying to have brunch.
Park was packed for it today. Let’s revive Rock n’ Roll in Manhattan!
Does everything need to be relevant, trending, and bleeding edge? Or can we have different interests and experiences to mix and flow throughout the city?
It was a super-spreader event. “Following the science” has gone out the window. With Cuomo’s efficacy crippled, we see how the lack of presidential leadership in 2020 has left us all hanging. Everyone is winging it and doing what they like as people continue to get sick and die and those health care workers we applauded nightly continue to be stressed and pushed to their limits. It’s just dumb and embarrassing.
To clarify I meant potential to be a superspreader event which it most likely will be. If you mean end result, yes.
The promoter Black 'N' Blue Productions & John Joseph of Bloodclot are virulent anti-vaxxers on Twitter & it's pretty weak of you, EV Grieve, to not let me point that out.

I let them speak for themselves. Now how 'bout you stop covering it up?
Regarding the lack of masks, and every photo I saw from people I know that went showed the vast majority tightly packed in and without masks. Why can't people go out and have fun but also be as responsible as possible? Go see the show in the park. Stuff like that is a fun way to spend a few hours. But also wear a mask and distance when possible?
I just don't understand this all or nothing approach from so many. Go out and do things, but protect yourself and others. And this bullshit about "if you're scared, stay home"...if you're not afraid of being infected with COVID you are really not paying attention. Yes, it kills relatively few percentage wise but it does kill people young and old. You don't know if you will be one of the unlucky ones to die unless you are infected. So why not just put up with a few very minor inconveniences to help yourself and others?

Lets get ready to ROCK!!!
punk music in the EV is about as relevant as Yiddish Klezmer music on the LES or folk music in the WV

Rock N’ Roll Baby
Yassssss qweeeen, yasssssss
Ronnie,
Please let us know what you listen to so we all know what's "relevant."
Ronnie is biased and, well I'm just not saying what else.
What a shame that they have to use a portable stage because the beautiful old bandshell was torn down.
Is punk relevant in other places — just not the East Village? I am trying to decide if my Stooges records will have resale value elsewhere.
And btw these bands (Madball, Murphy's Law and Bloodclot) which played today are considered hardcore.
Park was packed, no masks, no distancing what so ever, and a lot of unwashed hair. Too soon, way too soon.
Get a grip.
Stay inside then
Nah you stay inside. The show was a potential superspreader event. Deal with it.

Ronnie,
The link you left was broken (and it went straight to SPAM in the Blogger tool).

This is who you support - shame on you too.

It was a page for a google definition of the word “context” for many responders here 🤷🏽
