Chef-owner Toshio Tomita, who previously worked at Nobu, opened the kappo ryori-style restaurant in the subterranean space at No. 414 in 2013.

This one hit hard. What a delightful, peaceful space serving high-end yet not break-the-bank expensive sushi. Guess the greedy landlords need to get theirs though, so was probably some ridiculous lease hike so that a non-contributing parasite can make their wallet just a little fatter while the space inevitably turns into an obnoxious TikTok-bait restaurant or just sits empty years.
anyone else feel there is to many sushi shops in the east village it over kill already or maybe it just me

For $150 per person, the landlord would feel he could hike the rent.
I had a second date here with my boyfriend in 2021. Such a beautiful atmosphere with delicious cuisine and warm service. We are both EV residents and adored this place. This news is terrible. Why do all the good restaurants close???
