Yes please. A plea to dog owners: a single dog one time in a playground may not be a big deal if there are no kids there, but it always leads to more dogs later. We watch dogs come in and out of the playground all morning and evening. It tears up the turf. Not all of them are trained to not go on the equipment. Noble is right: please don’t turn it into a dog park. There’s one 3 blocks south.

I never understood even from a selfish persons standpoint why they wouldn't pick up dog poop. Do they not care if they themselves step in it later? It's so weird.
@ 1/25 2:52 and 9:40 - not every dog can go in a dog park for multiple reasons. If someone is using limited open public space and not bothering anyone, and not in anyones way who doesn't wish to be near their dog, it shouldn't bother you. We want dogs to be healthy and sane by getting energy out.
While I had to agree with this, but sorry 11:38am, if the sign says no dogs allowed and it's a children's playground, your dog doesn't belong there no matter the reason or rationale. Period.
No dogs allowed means just that.
“He’s not bothering anybody”, is never an excuse.
“We” don’t want dogs to be healthy and sane. You do.
It’s your responsibility to take care of that, not the public’s obligation.
@11:38am I'd be curious as to what are the reasons the dog cannot use the dog park that make it okay to use another public space off leash, especially if there are multiple dogs using this playground at once, which happens frequently. And dogs do destruction to the area when left to run around. The turf is slowly being torn up. The dogs dig around in the flower beds. Not that the kids don't also slowly destroy it, but the dogs greatly accelerate this process (and it's a playground for kids, so it's serving it's purpose).
Ditto with Anon 12:36. There is a sign on the fence inches from the park rules. It's completely ignored partly because it undersized, with faint white text on a bland green background. A similar sign was on the gates before the park / playground was renovated a few years ago. Yes, dogs need exercise but that does not justify ignoring park rules because you feel entitled. Those which bought a pandemic dog have the responsibility to figure out where the dog is allowed to run off leash. The only legal option is on private land or an official dog run. The parks department has a police force which will issue you a summons of $140 if they see you in this park with your dog. Several people on the block are photographing and documenting bad dog owners to encourage more oversight from the Park police. We encourage others to do the same and follow the below link to get Sauer Park on their watch list.
