Dhom opened in July 2022, serving up Laotian cuisine from owners whose credits included Tribeca's Khe-Yo. That 11-year-old restaurant also just closed.
Co-owner Nick Bradley told Eater:
He says he feels "slightly betrayed" by the hospitality industry, "that you put your life’s work into," and “all those who make 3 to 5 percent off our work is what's causing us to close."Bradley cited the percentages taken by credit card companies, point-of-service apps, rising insurance premiums, and inflation as having battered not just his restaurants, but the industry at large. "It leaves me kind of bitter," he says.He pointed out he’s articulating these reasons for closing in an attempt to get the attention of local government and others who "can help do something about it."
The 12th Street space previously housed the high-end cocktail lounge Mace.
Double Wide closed at No. 503-505 in March 2018 (much to the relief of some neighbors).

I always hate to see local places close as it’s a loss to the community.
Khe-Yo was a phenomenal restaurant. Lao cuisine is excellent.
The food here was great but honestly the menu was a little weird. Hard to construct a meal out of their collection of small bites.
Hoping for a craft beer bar here maybe with a few TVs.
That's upsetting. Excellent food, great vibe. I guess if you're not blasting horrible auto tune music where hoards of loud 22-year olds are tiktoking, then it can't last in this hood. Adults are doomed in the EV. Right now, there's an obnoxiously loud heavy metal band with AMPS playing at Tompkins. On a Thursday afternoon. What a shame.
Also loved the food, also thought the menu could have had some larger dishes. Sorry to see it go.
Love Laotian food. Sad to hear this. Hope the challenges that forced them to close aren't as universal, but wouldn't surprise me.
Similar to cafe coreccto, gotta make friends with the block. ( and respect the tree pits) But they were nice people.A neighbor should not have to walk in the bike lane to pass an establishment because diners are saying goodbye and taking up the entire sidewalk. Double wide wasn’t that great either. Now old devil moon was perfect.
It didn't last just because the mothership in Tribeca had closed.
I disagree. The menu was amazing.
Don’t get your hopes up! The lad bar “Double Wide” was hounded unnecessarily by the block association and some disgruntled neighbors (some of whom didn’t even live on the block) with constant complaints and threats! The Young woman who owned is a dear friend of mine and she bent over backwards to please them but they wouldn’t stop.
