Openings: Dhom on 12th Street

Dhom recently (July 8) debuted at 505 E. 12th St. between Avenue A and Avenue B. (Thanks to Vinny & O for the photos!)

Soulayphet "Phet" Schwader and Nick Bradley, whose credits include Tribeca's Khe-Yo, are behind this Southeast Asian cafe and cocktail bar.
Hours: 
Monday-Wednesday — 11 a.m. to midnight 
Thursday-Saturday — 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. 
Sunday — 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Mace, the high-end cocktail bar, left the address in the summer of 2020.

Their Laotian food in the Tribeca restaurant is fantastic.
And we love Phet's mom, who blesses us every Laotian New Year.

Went there last night -- *amazing* food (definitely try the nam khao, and make sure to order some jeow som), beautiful yet comfortable decor and vibe, and the drinks were pretty good too (I liked the mezcal & tamarind cocktail). Give it a try before the word gets out and the crowds come.

Seems like EV is the hotspot for SE Asian cuisine in Manhattan. Glad to see all these new openings since it means I don't have to travel all the way to Queens for my fix anymore. Dhom's menu looks really good!

I can't wait to try the food. I worry about their long-term prospects if they are relying on drinks because the drinks are pricey for the area and with what people are paying in rents not many can afford to splurge on alcohol this expensive.

We appreciate that they are not using the backyard. Glad to hear the food is good. Fingers crossed that this does not become a straight-up bar.

@6:45pm, those cocktail prices are actually pretty reasonable compared to most places selling cocktails like that. It's not uncommon to see $16-$20 depending on the ingredients...

Thank you to all the neighbors who went to community board meetings and made sure the backyard wouldn't be used and that the place wouldn't be open until the wee hours of the morning. That should help. It would be great if they really do function as a restaurant and not a cocktail bar. It would be great to have a nice place to eat where the focus is on food and not selling drinks and making noise!
