Workers this morning removed the remaining portion — stump and root structure — of the large, centuries-old tree
that fell on May 7 at the Seventh Street and Avenue A entrance to Tompkins Square Park. (Earlier in the month, someone wrote a message
on the stump about Jesus arriving. Probably not what they had in mind.)

What about massive stump they left on E 3RD ST months and months ago that has become a massive rat colony? Finish the job!!!!!!
Will they please put a couple of trees in place of this and not a tiny sapling.
The Brant Foundation put in full-grown trees when they opened their gallery on E 6th St. If the Parks Dept can't do that, maybe the Brants could make a charitable contribution to this neighborhood park?
