Another cartoon beheading in the East Village

Speaking of Eater, they also brought the news this week that Cookout Grill on First Avenue at 13th Street shut it down. I always loved their catchphrase: REAL BURNING WOOD.

On top of it all! (So to speak!) The truly odd Cookout Grill mascot was beheaded by vandals.

Point of discussion: Is there a serial beheader of animated characters in the neighborhood?

Flashback to December!

I hated that stupid caveman guy, but I loved the burgers at Cookout Grill.

Hi Cat Sitter. Thanks for the comment. It's a caveman? Seriously, I had one of those stupid conversations with Mrs. G. about the mascot. I honestly thought the mascot was supposed to be female. Which made me think it was all the more odious. Mrs. G thought I was very wrong.

Anyway! Never eat there. That corner seems to be jinxed. What was there before, a Popeye's?

Yeah, he looks like a caveman to me. But who knows? Now we can't even ask the manager because the place was closed. I don't know if I should admit this, but I ate there the night of the grand opening. The chicken wasn't that great, but the burgers were good. Previously, the world's dirtiest Popeye's was at that location. I wonder what's next...

I am a HUGE fan of Popeyes but I banned them after an argument with one of the employees and I swore I would never go back. I had to extend my boycott to the new place... because where else does all that misplaced anger go?
