An East Village man, 30, was walking his new puppy in Tompkins Square Park at E. Seventh St. and Avenue A around 6:15 p.m. Fri., June 18, when a suspect kicked the animal and stomped on its head, police said. The owner took the 4-month-old puppy to an animal hospital where it was declared dead. Witnesses called police who arrested John Lendino, 52, of Brooklyn, and charged him with aggravated animal cruelty. Lendino was freed pending a Sept. 8 court appearance.

Why on earth was this scumbag freed?!? Because it was "only" a puppy? Jesus Christ.
Oh I hope they lock him under the jail cell!
Thanks for lending new fodder for my nightmares.
Does anyone know how this John Lendino guy is? Is he someone we'd recognize from Tompkins?
I read this blotter post as well, yet when I have mentioned it to fellow EV dog owners they look away and say" I dont want to hear". Seriously, we need to make sure this man is punished as harshly as a person that intentionally assaults a human. Killed a puppy?
That is some sick sh-t.
Oh, let's whine more about noise and yuppies.
Talk about a fray in the fabric of humanity.
How angry could someone be? Or mentally ill? Or chemically impaired?
Shame on us for not attending to the ruptures in our community before the flood.
Why is the menace walking about, and not in jail. This is really upsetting!
HI my name is Ali, I am the owner of the two parents of the puppy and I raised him before giving him to my friend. the puppy was one month old. not 4 months old. and the man is still going to court for this horrible thing and we are hoping to get him with the wost we can. He murdered a member of my family. he didnt kick the puppy either. he lookd at it then stomped on his head. as he went to stomp again he was pushed aside. we had plenty of witnesses and we hope this man will learn his lesson as he gets beat in prison for murdering a poor defenseless 4 week old puppy.
I hope the witnesses show up to testify, please. Animal cruelty as vicious as this indicates a very violent and disturbed personality. Who could harm a month-old puppy? As bad as this act was, the guy may well have already committed violence against a person. If not, he is at high risk to do so.
