June 11
Jeremiah Moss spotted this one yesterday on Sixth Street near Second Avenue. Per Jeremiah: "I thought the string of lights and the broken ornaments gave it an extra poignancy. Not to mention the teen tweeter."
Indeed!
There was no immediate comment from Gruber MacDougal, spokesperson for the International Coalition of Tree Tossing in the Spring (ICTTS). Horse racing fans spotted him yesterday tearing up tickets for triple boxes of Master of Hounds, Prime Cut and Isn't He Perfect at the Belmont Stakes.

WINNER!!!!!
Wow, Jeremiah, that is one green tree!!! Well done!
Wow, impressive find from Jeremiah Moss and the placement of the ornament makes for the best tree photo so far! Only 10 days left...I think, since that son of a bitch Gruber MacDougal will never tell us when this thing is going to end and what the winner gets as far as prizes go...but it sounds like he just blew all the prize money at the racetrack anyway. Horses for courses.
it was a surprisingly green tree, indeed. do you think they watered the thing for the past 6 months?
As the finder of the June 1 decidedly-thirsty, dried out, firestarter -- call FRAUD!
I expect this tree may still be firmly planted in the ground.
Hmph.
Double hmph.
As the finder of too many Rest of the City (or World?) trees to mention (or not), I'm trying to maintain a spirit of sportsmanship. God damn it, it's hard!! Still, I like Jeremiah's very green find. If the end of this thing is really June 21 (& with Gruber in charge, who knows?) there's still time for someone to beat it, though.
How is this possible? Look at how green that tree is? I'm boggled.
Wow. June 11, incredibly green, ornaments AND lights! It's a grand slam. And with the WEINER verification, it's like a walk-off grand slam.
@Jeremiah - Were you able to confirm that this was a cut tree (and not a potted tree)?
REMINDER: Spring (and presumably this contest) ends and summer begins tomorrow, June 21, 2011, at 1:16 P.M. EDT.
