Veselka Bowery teams up with UrbanDaddy for a sneak-preview 'five-course pierogi-and-vodka pairing'

Veselka Bowery watchers have been wondering when the, um, Veselka Bowery location on East First Street will open. If the following is any indication, then soon....

A reader sent along this link from UrbanDaddy, in which its "members" can pay $75 for a sneak preview tasting menu Sunday night... the deal includes a "five-course pierogi-and-vodka pairing." The reader, who said he is Polish so there is "much love for vodka and pierogi," had a few unkind words about this pairing. (The same UrbanDaddy that champions the lowest-common denominator places like, say, Superdive.)

Oh Veselka. Don't you know that UrbanDaddy is like the herpes of the Internet? Actually, that is too kind, as UrbanDaddy wishes it even had an opportunity to catch herpes ...

UrbanDaddy is the coke-sweaty, short-fingered hairy palm of the Internet.

I was so waiting for this place to open, but now that it looks like it's shooting for the upscale and tourist crowd, I'm impatient no longer. This area needs a good diner very, very badly, so it just sux that Velska is not gonna be it. I hope they go bankrupt.

I love(d) the original Veselka but they can fuck themselves with this pretentious yuppy-courting bullshit. Makes me want to stay the fuck away from all their restaurants entirely. Jump the shark is a stupid phrase but entirely apt in Veselka's case.

This is just sad and so not in line with what the original Veselka was and still is to some degree to the neighborhood. I am so disappointed.

Hooking up with UrbanDaddy is deadly. Every dumbfuck in the county will be showing up here. If you want locals to patronize your place of business, PLEASE DO NOT HOOK UP WITH URBANDADDY OR LET THEM WRITE ABOUT YOU.

Naw--doesn't sound all that appetizing to me--pierogis and vodka--I can do at home..white russian and some sweet potato pierogis sound fine about now.

Upscale Veselka on the Bowery - near DBGBs. Oh well...I had to look up DBGB, btw. No wonder I feel more and more out of the loop.
