you know i took a class there this weekend and heard about this. that is f*cking bullsh*t. seriously what is this guy thinking? he should be ashamed of himself. it's like the most anti-yoga lawsuit ever. he's trying to like, trademark "yoga." which is free to all to practice how they wish, not owned by one or some. YTTP is one of the best damn org's in this city and now they are being threatened to lose their building on st marks and are bleeding cash on the dumb lawsuit. read more on this here http://www.yogatruth.org/
wow, what a tool. Gumucio is right, yoga poses should not be copyright-able. i'm guessing Choudhury is basing his lawsuits on the Federal Copyright Law of 1976 which allows for copyrighting of "choreographic works"
what a goddamn tool. Cumucio is right, yoga poses shouldn't be copyright-able. my guess is the lawsuit is based on the 1976 federal copyright law which allows for copyrighting of "choreographed works" and is a complete wreck that's long due for an overhaul.
one thing i know is...i'll never take another "official" Bikram Yoga class.
Hey, Yoga heads, if you haven't seen the documentary "Yoga, Inc.", you should check it out. It's all about this. Can see on Hulu here: http://www.hulu.com/watch/134936/yoga-inc
Yoga is BIG business, no question. I remember reading once about a studio on the west side that was pulling in a few million a year, and that was in the 90's when classes cost half what they do now.
