In "The Hunt" column this week at The Times, two third-year NYU law students go through the trials and tribulations of finding off-campus housing...
"Michael said, 'I don’t care if I am in Alphabet City, as long as I have a nice apartment,'" [real-estate agent Julia] Perez said. That was unlike most of her apartment-hunters. "Everyone wants to have a nice apartment on Second Avenue."

Is Stuy Town still considered off-campus housing or has it officially become an NYU dorm with a few leftover cranky old people?
I'm hoping that POS student can only find a place on Avenue D. By no means do I denigrate Avenue D here. I just hope the experience splashes the cold water of reality on that Felicity/Magnolia Bakery/Sex in the city attitude.
@ken's kitchen: I moved to Stuytown a few months ago, I'm not a college student and I'm not geriatric. I was once like you. I was an east villager.
$2900 plus broker fee for a 1bed between Aves C and D? YIKES. It seems to have gone up since I was in the market. That area can get a little dicey at night. I think I'm getting a better deal here. There's no broker fee and utilities are included, and there's a few (not as many they advertise mind you) perks to be enjoyed.
Apropos of absolutely nothing: In the 70s, people used to refer to Alphabet City this way: A = You're Adventurous B = You're Brave C = You're Crazy D = You're Dead

Translated: I hate your neighborhoods. Cater to me anyway.

Three words: Sense of entitlement.
Hey, Michael...I care if you're in Alphabet City.
Why is he a POS? Because he wants a reasonably priced apartment? Isn't that something we'd all like???

Can't fuckin' wait for you to get old KEN.
Available for rent January 2013 - two bedroom apartment on E. 10th street between C and D.
I live in Alphabet City... by choice.

...how times have changed.
Always hating on Avenue D, you folks. We don't have cupcakes over here, but it's all the better.
