Some of New York’s most well-known and innovative cocktail specialists are temporarily stepping away from their spices and strainers to serve up shots and drafts as guest bartenders at the East Village’s Sidewalk Cafe, at 94 Avenue A (at East 6th Street). Starting March 28, such master mixologists as Scott James Teague (veteran of Pegu Club); Michael Klein and Nick Brown (PDT); and Frank Cisneros (Dram, Bourgeois Pig, Cienfuegos) and Jane Danger, formerly of PDT; are taking a break from the stylish concoctions they create elsewhere to lend their hand serving more typical bar fare — beer, shots, and a handful of popular mixed drinks, at Sidewalk Cafe. Guest bartenders will be on hand at Sidewalk the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 8 p.m. to midnight.

I'll settle for having my food arrive less than 30 minutes after I order it.
Sidewalk's been busier than before, now with the nice weather bringing people to sit outside.
Too bad that just means more people to stress the already terrible gimmicky lazy incompetent staff.
This stinks of "last gasp", we can only hope. Return to the proud 24-hour diner your neighbors love and miss, you'll be repaid by their (check-paying) return.

Yo, I go to SideWalk all the time and I don't know what you're talking about here. The food always comes out hot and fast, the service is absolutely incredible (try talking to your server or bartender then write something bad about them), and everything seems to be better than when it was a garbage-slinging 24-hour diner.
They definitely fucked up the re-opening, but they've pulled their shit together since then.
