Water cafe now open on East 10th Street

Back in May, we pointed out the signs for Molecule, the incoming water cafe on East 10th Street between Avenue A and First Avenue... Several readers told us that the cafe, which sells "hyper-filtered, perfectly pure, eco-conscious" water and various related supplies, is now open.

Unfortunately, it wasn't open for the day when we went by...

We'll stop by at some point. Anyone else try it?

About as necessary as a Scotch Tape Boutique.

I've seen some ridiculous stores in new york but this one takes the cake.

Just wait until I open my filtered, cooled and delicately scented air store...

You'll have competition with MHz, my artisanal ambient sounds boutique, opening next door.

@Goggla Perri-Air? Don't forget to apply for a liquor license.

@esquared - damn, someone beat me to it!

@Goggla Yeah, but yours will be liquor infused.

Can't wait to try out their bathroom!

How much water do they intend to sell per month to cover their ridiculous rent?

Even sillier than the store that sells nothing but mayonnaise.

If you should ever be looking for me, don't look there.

Is this a store... or an art project?

Seriously. Should we start the Deathwatch on this one immediately?

just walked by the other day...there were people inside....apparently they are selling Alkaline water too and delivering in the area....its probably better than paying for Poland Spring that comes from an upstate tap...it might not be as daft as it sounds....I'd give it a shot.

why on earth do we need all these different waters?
vitamin water
ionized water
buy a water filter to take out all the crap they add to our tap water and enjoy plain ordinary water

Are they fucking kidding?

@Ken. I think you mean this takes the cupcake! The way the area is now, they'll probably make a killing $$$!!!

Molecule is actually a great place, the water is fantastic, and I would recommend trying it just for the experience of what pure water can taste like. New York tap water may be clean, but your landlord's old lead pipes leading from the city's to your own kitchen probably add a lot of undesired 'ingredients' to it. Which is why even the city recommends filtering your drinking water. I'm a regular buyer, and I notice that I drink a lot of Molecule's filtered water while I don't like that from my own filters very much at all, it just tastes better. Plus, a full gallon of Molecule's water costs $3, which is certainly less expensive than bottled water in health food places like Commodities, located just half a block away.
