Last I checked the 7-Eleven franchise site indicated this location was still without a franchisee. Did the sign maker get this intel from Zoltar?
The low foot traffic, negative publicity and protests from the neighborhood and surrounding businesses makes this 7-Eleven a franchisee's dream come true!
I can't figure out why you'd want to open a 7-11 in Manhattan? What does it provide that that the Duane Reades on every corner do not? The only thing I can think of is Slushies but that can possibly support the rent they're being charged.

What a Potsie moment.
I promise you that every one of those signs I see will be coming down immediately.
Is the sign an attempt at being ironic?
Truly the silent majority.
At attempt at being ironic? I think it IS ironic.
