Basically, here's what happened, torn right from the pages of today's paper!
An NYU grad student has finally won her battle with the city over $475 in parking fines racked up because a crew moved her car to an illegal spot to make way for a new bike-share station.
On April 30, Patricia Preston left her Honda Civic on East Second Street between avenues A and B, where she had to move it for street cleaning two days later.
When she went back, her car was gone — and a Citi Bike rack was in its place.
Anyway, among other things, the tow truck parked her car backward — handing her a $65 ticket.
The resident got all this dismissed yesterday in Manhattan Traffic Court.

That must have been a tough call for them: coming to the defense of a graduate student.
I walked by that same dock yesterday and it was completely full, hope no one was planning on returning another bike there, they would be sol.
Anyone riding a bike who gets a summons for any parking or cycling infraction now has an instant way to get the ticket thrown out, just voame it on a CitiBike, you are almost guaranteed to have it dismissed. Thank you Mr. Bloomberg!
A film crew did that to my room mate's car many years ago. They moved it to an illegal parking place AND broke the steering column in the process, basically totally the car. Yes, it was an old car but it worked just fine. We needed it and missed it too. No, we didn't get any money or consideration because we didn't have the time, money or energy to deal with it. Anyway, personally, I think the bike lanes are very dangerous. God HELP YOU if you forget for one second and step off the curb without looking. They go FAST. Also, there's no parked cars to block anything which is why nowadays, there's so many cars running into local coffee shops and bars. Oh well. Another win for Mayor Bloomie boy.
The car lanes are very dangerous, too. In fact, it's a bad idea to step out into traffic of any kind without looking.
Bikes are way more likely than cars to be speeding in the WRONG direction. Or even up onto the sidewalks.
