We posted this archival video titled "NYC Taxi Ride up 1st Ave circa 1971" back
in February 2011. Dirty Old 1970's New York City
posted it on Facebook this morning... so we thought we'd revisit it as well... the ride starts just past East Houston Street north to East 14th Street. What do you recognize?

Think I glimpsed that great remnant of 70s fad franco-sandwich shops at 2nd Street, Wrapsody On Deux.
Definitely passes Asher Levy School and I think the village view apartments which are much more visible because the trees are so young.
That old bank clock says it's 9:25, which of course means the video was shot at 10:12.
Passes the front of my apartment building. Which at the time, my father, aunt, great uncle, and grandparents were living in.
The neighborhood was so much quieter back then.
No grinning bearded men and their biscuits!
- The hedge along the housing complex around 4th Street
- The Asher Levy school
- That clock suspended over the street
- The 14th St subway station fences
That made me car sick, oh , the old cabs were bumpy!
