That looks like a very young raccoon.
I'm sure it's only a scratch, and Rocky will be better as soon as he is able...

Do you think he trekked all the way from Central or Inwood Park?
More likely he came from the parkland along the East River, or he's a native. I'd love to pick his brain about what it was like back in the day.
That's my Pomeranian!
he's probably native to the park. studies show that raccoons keep very limited habitats. they don't venture more than one or two blocks in their daily movement.
cute little critter.
Raccoons are normally mostly nocturnal. Yes, looks young, but, I am always very cautious around a raccoon seen in broad daylight. It might mean it has rabies.
Rocky Raccoon. He was a fool unto himself, he would not swallow his foolish pride.

I finally saw the weird bird and I miss the rabid raccoon. The park is turning into a zoo. Thank Obama!
Glad to hear the animal control officers were gentle with the little guy.
Glad they were kind to the raccoon. Hope he/she is fine…

Can the raccoon qualify for Essex Crossing? http://www.thelodownny.com/leslog/2015/05/heres-your-chance-to-learn-about-affordable-housing-at-essex-crossing.html
A racoon came into our apartment on East 5th Street through an open window a few weeks ago. We screamed. He/she left.
