Moishe's has a new (temporary-looking) sign

EVG reader Steven passes along this photo from outside Moishe's Bake Shop at 115 Second Ave. ... workers removed the sign in mid-April for some facade work...

Owner Moishe Perlmutter told WPIX that the sign sustained damage following the deadly gas explosion on March 26. "We got a violation last week that it’s shaking. We have to take it off and fix it," Perl told the station on April 20.

Anyway, looks like whatever sign is there will be well illuminated with those new lights...

Does anyone actually believe that the sign needed to be replaced because of the explosion? That entire building has looked like it is falling apart for years; Moishe's sign included.

Why are they bothering with the sign when the store on the market?

Anon 12:24 - According to previous comments here the old sign was offensive to some people. I would assume, when asked to describe themselves, those people use the word "dainty".

At least they didn't fix the windows on the second floor!

Please please please return the sign! Or something classic and old school and not trip mallish!

Okay good, how about getting rid of the acid stained glass next? I'm all for old school signage unless it looks like a letter will fall on me as I pass by. When selling food I think the outside should look like it is care for.

Is the last name Perlmutter or Perl?

This is much better. I agree that they need to fix the glass next.

They misspelled BAKFRY.

I think its going to take the Coming of the Moshiach for that glass to be replaced.

Wait wait! Y'all are missing the link above to a listing for the storefront!

MOISHES IS CLOSING!? Is it possible?! I always assumed he owned the building. Sad days indeed.

Hopefully now they will also have their glass windows cleaned. Moishe, please clean the glass. Not only will we all enjoy a better view of your wonderfully delicious baked goods, you will have more business than ever. The neighborhood has changed so much. If you spend just a little bit of money to clean up the store itself you will find an entirely new wave of customers who will continue to buy your products for many many years.
FYI, the Chocolate Bells are truly magnificent.
