Meantime, we haven't heard anything yet about the official tree lightning ceremony (this year will mark the 24th annual). Last year's event was on Sunday, Dec. 14. So maybe Dec. 13 this year? We'll find out!

I see Life Cafe mentioned here. Another causality of the virus running rampant through NYC now, eating everything in it's way. No mercy, no soul. A big dead stink. Landlord greed. Destroying what made New York great.
Cant wait to see the lights when they are still up next year in May!
Seriously. I am not being sarcastic. I want to see them in May.
Word on the street is this was a secret rehearsal for the new EV Christmas Review:The Bendy-Thing Building-Cracker Suite.
The show will include the Utility-Truck-In-Reverse-Harmony-Horns ("The Beep-Beeps"); the 9th Precinct Police Whistle Choir ("The Hands-Up Whistle-Blowers"); and the Santa-Con Disharmony Dick-Wads ("The Dick-Wads"); all catered by Ray's = Free Christmas Egg Creams for EVERYbody!
HIDDEN + FORGOTTEN HISTORY OF THE TSP XMAS TREE:
This xmas tree lighting ceremony was "Given to the People of the East Village by the Tompkins Square Neighborhood Coalition", a group of shills for real-estate interests fronted by (city councilmember) Antonio Pagan, (real estate lawyer) Samuel ("Scurvey") Turvey and (LES developer) Donald Capoccia, among others, who used Pagan and (landlord) Krystyna Piorkowska to divide the neighborhood against itself on the issue of homelessness in the East Village and to redraw the election district in order to disenfranchise voters of color in order to facilitate the hyper-gentrification to come.
This xmas tree lighting scheme was their way of demonstrating their power in getting the city to do their bidding, as they pretended to represent the community in their act of "good will".
Yeah, the thing looks all nice and bright at night, but the truth behind it isn't so nice....
Any update on the day/time for the lighting?
Does anyone know if there will be a dedication at the Tompkins Square Park tree lighting ceremony this year?
