Wash day again for the 14-foot-tall, 6,600-pound red rabbit sculpture by Jeff Koons inside the lobby at the IBM Watson Building/51 Astor Place/Death Star... photo via EVG reader 8E.
An ordinary object, made to be interesting and pricey by means of its ridiculous scale. That is not art, it is "crafts". Art is largely dead. This thing is a monument to moneyed cluelessness and bad taste.
They've got bigger problems than a little dust. The shiny red rabbit wants to be high end art, but the bright red CVS sign right next door begs to differ.

I take the long way to the post office, on the east side of 3rd Avenue. Just so I don't have to look at this piece of crap.
In 50 years, some art preservationist will be working on that, trying to restore its lustre and shine.

I like you, rabbit! I don't care what everyone else says.
I love it. That and the Keith Haring sculpture on 3rd.
The rabbit is about consumerism.
Um yes... that is my job and it sucks. Thankfully Jeff Koons has a great studio trained on how to maintain his art... for now at least.
