DumplingGo is closed right now
An EVG reader notes that brown paper is up on the windows at DumplingGo, the quick-serve restaurant on Second Avenue at East 12th Street. There aren't any signs up noting "closed for renovations"... the phone goes unanswered ... and the DumplingGo website has a "Error establishing a database connection" message.
However, there is a freshly approved permit for a "minor renovation of the existing restaurant" on file with the city. In addition, DumplingGo is on CB3's SLA docket (PDF here) on Monday night for a beer-wine license. (This application will not be heard before the committee.)
Anyway, this is likely just a closed for renovations for real (even though there isn't a note for customers).
DumplingGo opened here 13 months ago.

Positive Pats would prefer a Michelin starred restaurant to be here.
I just ate there the other night, and the dumplings were okay but not great, and the kids running the store were having a great time with each other. I couldn't blame them. I was probably the same when I was a kid!
It's too bad there's no way to make money betting on which restaurants will go out of business.
i will be surprised if they return
not very good food
perhaps they need the liquor license to stay afloat
Error establishing a dumpling connection?
There is never anyone in there. I don't know how they can afford the rent selling a few dozen dumplings every day.
Gonna go out on a limb and guess that nobody cares. Easy come easy go.
Guess I'll have to have cupcakes for dinner. Again.
Not exactly a beloved neighborhood institution. Boy, do I miss the sushi place that used to be there.
I really wanted to like Go Dumpling's food. Went there with a friend who had regularly patronized Shima; we are NOT food snobs, but we both found Go Dumpling's dumplings were just not that tasty. (And they have serious competition from Mimi Cheng's right across the avenue.)
I had assumed they were surviving on delivery orders, as the place is so often empty or empty-ish. Will booze save this place? I guess we'll find out!
These were the worse dumplings I ever had!!!!
A fast food place with a wine and beer license? I went in one time and contrary to most comments here I left because there were too many people there. Okay it looked like an NYU bus had dropped off it passengers all at one time so I decided not to hang around.
Every time I see their name, I read "Dumping Go". Have no idea if that is part of the issue...lol
Opening a dumpling place there with the other established ones 2-3 blocks away was dumb. I'm glad they went under.
Open kitchen concept with frozen dumplings probably didn't help
We can only pray for them to serve bubble tea and desserts.
