As we first noted back on June 30, a sweetgreen is coming to Astor Place... and today is the opening day, per a sweetgreen rep.
Here's more about the quick-serve restaurant that offers various custom salads and grain bowls, etc., from their website:
Founded in 2007, sweetgreen is a destination for delicious food that’s both healthy for you and aligned with your values. We source local and organic ingredients from farmers we know and partners we trust, supporting our communities and creating meaningful relationships with those around us. We exist to create experiences where passion and purpose come together.
This marks the brand’s 11th location in the city, per the sweetgreen rep.

I walked past it yesterday and discovered they were giving out free salads and drinks on their soft opening. In all of my 16 years in NYC, I thought nothing was for free here. I waited in line and ordered a salad with shrimp no less with an iced mint tea. For free. Evidently, they were doing this so the staff could become acclimated with their duties. This is a great location and venue. It is nutritious, tasteful, and the customer service was stellar. What a nice addition to our neighborhood.
Yes! Commented before anyone started the usual idiotic hate froth over the despicably banal phonies that eat/drink/live/love near whatever the current post's subject is
Here, I'll start:
OH GREAT THE MOMS IN THEIR LULU BING BONGS AND INSTAGRAM WAITING EXPENSIVE SALAD HIPSTERS I'VE LIVED HERE FOR YEARS CHANGE GIVES ME DIARRHEA
I'm not into food chains, so no.
What "communities" are they supporting?
