Trash can-swallowing sinkhole keeping 8th Street entrance to Tompkins Square Park shut down
The entrance to Tompkins Square Park on Avenue B at Eighth Street is still blocked off... last week, a sign, since removed, noted that the entrance is closed "due to repair."
No repair yet... and either the sinkhole is getting larger or the trash can is getting smaller... Or both! And hopefully the Parkgoer will finish his newspaper before the hole expands...
Flashback to last Sunday!

This makes me somewhat anxious.
expecting a belch any day now.
Is there a new C.H.U.D. presence under the park?
It seems like they're waiting for the trash can to completely sink below the surface so they can pave it over; I'm not holding my breath.
Swallow up the crusties.
CHUD! We can only hope! "Where have all the Crusties gone?"
OK, I'm not religious but I might start praying. It's now 12:25 or so am, and I'm being treated to a crusty concert in front of my building that San Loco just left. Two banjos, two guitars, makeshift drummer and multiple "singers". The drunken cater-wall has lasted for hours, and 9th precinct says they'll come when they can. Do people who actually live in and pay rent in this neighborhood have any rights, and how long must we be held hostage by these guests? WTF!!!
"Two banjos, two guitars, makeshift drummer and multiple "singers"'
Mayor De Faustio calls this "vibrancy in action".
