Just a quick post to note that the plywood came down last week outside Martina, the Roman-inspired pizzeria from Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group that's opening next month on 11th Street at Third Avenue...
The previous Martina post (here) had a few more details on the place.

Meanwhile, the corner slot on 11th and Third — the former M2M — still has the plywood treatment while workers carve out the incoming Wagamama.

I wish they'd post more of Lana Del Rey's new album poster all over the East Village.

You could not pay me enough to work for any of his restaurants. He has since changed the pay policy for his employees. The FOH staff is now paid an hourly wage instead of a lower wage with tips. For all of the stress and agony during the shift, that is the whole point of making tips. You earn more because you work really hard.
Danny Meyers is greedy in my book.
