City installs pre-tagged Big Belly on 7th Street and Avenue A
This afternoon, Derek Berg noted that a worker delivered a Big Belly to the northeast corner of Avenue A and Seventh Street ... one that, ingeniously or not, had already been tagged... (save someone the trouble of doing it later) ...
Back in June, workers placed these solar-powered trash cans in and around Tompkins Square Park as part of the city's $32-million plan to combat vermin in rat-popular neighborhoods, like here. (As I recall, the northeast corner of 7th and A didn't have its own Big Belly.)
As previously noted, the rat-proof trash cans — which cost $7,000 each, per the Daily News — might work when they are not full or have trash stacked next to them...

Yeah, why don't they install Big Bellys that are already pre-filled or overflowing? Save us the work of filling them.
It should say COOOOOOL on it.
I wish these $7000 trash cans had foot pedals that opened their lids. Not a big fan of having to open the dirty trash cans with my hands.
And as illustrated by these photos, the issue isn't the trash can...we need more trash collectors.
Clean cities have workers constantly cleaning the trash receptacles.
I'd rather the old school $100 cans I can just toss trash in. Take all these savings and hire some more people.
7K per trashcan. DeBozoio strikes again. City money burning at its finest (worst.)
People are pigs.
$7 grand for a trashcan is a straight up scam.
Comrade De Blastio represents the commies at City Hall, which is located at Havana on the Hudson, which is a satrapy of Albany aka Moscow on the Mohawk. Commies all spending $tolen money.
How much of the $32 million is DeBozo getting for his campaign?

The pre-tagging is going to result in over-tagging, making them looks twice as ugg-lee-err. Or nicer, depending.
Outrageously priced. I am on my way down to City Hall in my Donald Trump mask to renegotiate the deal. It's a terrible deal Believe me. There's never been anything like it ever before. Oh wait..yes there has....every other corrupt deal ever put in place.
"People are pigs." That's why certain religions forbid the eating of the pork -- it's a form of cannibalism.
These things are a total joke but I know who isn't laughing all the way to the bank.
I believe the Big Bellys were removed for the replacement of the sidewalk corners with the new safety inclines. Of course, they were brought back before the corners of Ninth Street and Ave A were replaced. I think they are doing a lot of good. Before they were temporarily removed, they did effectively solve the problem of the overflowing garbage cans along Ave A. MUCH CLEANER!!! I Agree, touching the handles is pretty disgusting! A foot pedal is a good idea. I am pulling the lid down with the hand holding the garbage as a buffer, and resting it against my body to dump the trash. And lastly, now there is a PERMANENT waste bin on the corner of Ave A and 10th Street. The skate boarders cannot move the Big Belly into the baseball area of their use. Yeah! Too Heavy! It was very annoying never having a pail on that corner (for us dog owners)
Maybe they left the graffiti on there for ghetto authenticity. The marketing saps for real estate love exploiting that.
LOL @ Moscow On The Mohawk.
