Queens-based bakery bringing Hawaiian-inspired desserts to 9th Street
Mahalo New York Bakery, which has two locations in Queens, is opening an outpost at 443 E. Ninth St. at Avenue A.
The signage went up back on Friday. (Thanks to Steven and Dennis for the photos.)
You can read more about them and their cupcakes, cakes and pastries here.
This will be the third business to take up occupancy in Icon Realty's recently renovated storefronts along Ninth Street ... joining Poke N' Roll and Beetlebug.

awww more dessert options - that's neat
I still can't get over Gelarto on the corner. What a joke.
Gelarto has already been shut down once by the health department, and lines are getting shorter now that winter is here. Bring back Cafe Pick Me Up!
How do you say "This neighborhood is giving me diabetes" in Hawaiian?
Enough with the desserts. Between all the sweet shops and bars, this area is headed for a major health failure. Good thing we've got a hospital nearby. Oh, wait...
At least Gelarto is quality plain old fashion gelato. Eggloo two doors north is total junk food, should be at a boardwalk or a carnival.
With Icon Realty as their landlord; I wish them a lot of luck :(
I just want a bakery with good white bread and those hard crusty rolls. Like there used to be in the 9th Street Bakery. Where there is now a stupid juice place.
Gelarto is delicious. You guys are missing out.
Gelarto is crap-arto. Go to Fresco on 2nd Avenue if you want the good stuff. Stracciatella (chocolate chip, only the chips are more like shards) is the best.
