Joe & Pat's now open on 1st Avenue

Joe & Pat's, the Staten Island-based pizzeria, opened its first Manhattan location today (as you probably know) at 168 First Ave. between 10th Street and 11th Street.

EVG regular Lola Sáenz stopped by for a pizza to go...

As Eater noted:

The hallmark of the pizza here is the cracker-thin crust with fresh-mozzarella. The food, from the Pappalardo family, has earned the restaurant cult status, and fans will be pleased to know that the Manhattan location is a straight-up duplicate of its older Staten Island sister.

You can find their menu here.

This Joe and Pat's outpost is open weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. ... and 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. on weekends.

Updated 5/1

You can find more details on the pizzeria at Eater and Grub Street...

Our long national nightmare is finally over. Let there be Staten Island Pizza for every hungry resident of this humble East Village. Our work is done here, now on to the Annual Crusty Wars and our first 90 degree day of the year. $5 goes to the first person to give Opie the opossum a slice of this delicious pizza.

I will try Joe and Pat's but TBH I'm way more excited for tonight's (4/30) opening/return of Una Pizza Napoletana on Orchard St , formerly on 12th St back in the mid aughts. Anthony Mangieri always made the best margherita pizza in the city

5:43 I hope he DOESNT put a MILLION CRUCIFIXES in his place like he used to do when he was on 12th Street. I like to separate my pizza from religion while I am eating.

They don't sell pizza by the slice as of yet. They are looking into different delivery services but for now you can call and pick-up/make a reservation. The pizza is damn good and is a welcome addition to the tomato mozzarella vibes in the nabe-- plus they have that good "cup" pepperoni that places like DiFara and Robertas use. I honestly don't know why I love this type the best- but here we are. As for taste, it's v similar to Rubirosa without (as of yet) the obnoxious wait and the B&T crowd.

@5:43pm: Una Pizza Napoletano isn't on E. 12th anymore? Since when? I walk past there nearly every week; maybe I'm just not paying attention, distracted as I am by the Australian coffee place which is oddly named "Saltwater Coffee".

@11:34AM That's Motorino (I think?), equally as good I think, a decent clam pie, but not Frank Pepe's by any stretch.

For most of us, pizza is religion!

I tried out our new neighbors from Staten Island this week and I must say I enjoyed the pepperoni pie. Classic. If you like thin crust pizza, you will like theirs.

This review of it was posted on Reddit a few days ago. I recognize two of the characters in the neighborhood, including the woman off-camera (I'm sure I won't be the only one)... https://www.reddit.com/r/videos/comments/8gdzbt/this_simple_pizza_review_turned_in_to_the_most/?st=JGU998AV&sh=b6c6b83a
