As EVG regular Daniel noted, New York State considers farmer's markets to be essential businesses that can stay open during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Union Square Greenmarket is expected to be open tomorrow.

do you know which heroic vendors were there today?
Livelihoods are on the line. For most of the Greenmarket vendors, the markets are their only source of income. The fruits and vegetables cannot be saved for a later time. And we, the people, still need food.
