And last week, someone boarded up the windows and doors...
... fueling speculation that this was the first sign on pending demolition ahead of some new development.
Perhaps someday, but for now, there's nothing new on file with the DOB indicating any kind of construction.

this corner should be even more delightful.
They're waiting for some other fast foodie type place to grab it and protecting the insides from the Marauders that lurk outside.
This corner has been rapidly deteriorating for more than a year and now it's going to happen even more swiftly. I hope the City Council members and Maloney enjoy their seats, because this kind of decay has been happening all throughout the EV and there's been jack done about it. I'm ready for some new political blood that can revitalize the neighborhood.
Worst intersection imaginable.
If this property was on the Upper West Side, it would be immediately turned into a 98 story high needle-style super-condo, with a poor door leading to a single windowless affordable apartment in the basement. But since this is the East Village, it will probably just sit there and rot for decades.
There are two Papaya Dogs below 14th Street left: one at West 4th Street & Sixth Avenue, the other on Fulton Street steps from the South Street Seaport.
Sure it won’t be long to this corner is vandalized and a bunch of junkies squat there and make another intersection unsafe to walk passed
