EVG reader Danny shared these photos. As the top pic shows, some more debris landed just across the street.
Luckily there weren't any reports of injuries, but the cars took a hit... one worse than the other...
As Danny noted, the sidewalk bridge here outside PS 122 has seemingly been up forever...

Will the city cover the damage to the vehicles?
In other construction site news... around 5AM this morning, a piece of equipment became... active at the construction site on the corner of Second and 9th, and made a loud banging noise every 4 seconds. It reverberated down the block for four hours.
I can promise you trying to recover any money from the city will be a long and exhaustive process. My co-worker's car got rear ended by a city vehicle and getting them to pay for the damages took forever. His paperwork seemed to always be buried in a mess of other work and govt employees dragged their feet returning phone calls.
It feels like the city has become one long tunnel of scaffolding. Hard to find a block without it.

My car was hit by a city truck while parked on ave B few years back. Kind workers left a note that directed me to the local precinct and the city insurance paid promptly.
The city wouldn't be responsible. The building and construction company that installed the sidewalk shed is responsible. Pretty clear it wasn't properly secured just from the photos here.
Well, it is in fact a CITY OWNED BUILDING!!
This scaffolding has been here for years. Please fix the building!
Yeah, I heard that too, and I also thought it was coming from the construction site (the building where the Starbucks used to be) but when I got closer I realized that the sound was coming from under the street, through a (covered) manhole - in the street, several feet from the curb. The manhole was barricaded with two cones and some orange plastic rods. I guess they didn’t want anyone’s car to explode.
Omg the building was redone not that long ago! So much work and so much time and scaffolding. And I guess they ran out of money because pieces from the new work starting falling off the top and that is why the scaffolding is back up AGAIN!
Btw nails are not that strong. They should be using screws not pounding 1000 nails
