A few new trees arrived today on Avenue A between Second Street and Third Street (on the east side)... thanks to EVG reader Newman for sharing these photos...
I've noticed a lot of new trees in the neighborhood recently which always makes me happy. That must be a rewarding job. Looking forward to the new trees they're going to plant soon here on 9th in front of the shuttered Cloister Cafe.
What teh hell?! Those look like actual trees. Not just saplings that will be dead three weeks after they go in the ground, as per usual. Somethings not right.
Also E Houston between C & LDR has a few (the tiny type, not these monsters). Weirdly they ignored several existing empty tree beds when they did the work.

I'm impressed by the size of the new tress being planted along ave A.
Good to see something happening that everyone here can agree is a good thing!
Now, about those ugly plastic sticks everywhere....
WELCOME TREES!!!!
Love this
Finally, the city is replacing trees on city streets in the EV/LES and not just allowing contractors to cut them down all the time.
Please neighbors of these new beauties, please water if you see the ground is dry around them - thanks
East 5th street too!!! Near Avenue A by Mast books between 506 and 508.......the notorious soil death star plot!!!!!!
Lets hope there was some serious soil watching!!!!! Love this!!!!
My mistake--it is between 504 and 506 East Fifth street--10009. This is just because I am grading papers--MLA style--??????
There are 3 new trees right around were this truck was on A between 2nd and 3rd. I know water helps trees, what else? Worms? well wishes?
New trees arrived on our block on Eldridge St about a week ago, good to see.

Looking fast at the thumbnail I thought this was an ad for another weed store. Giant blunt on the back of a flatbed truck. I’m glad it’s trees :)
Encourage local businesses to water street trees! Ice counts!
