Do you remember the Unicorn Frame Shop?

Via the EVG inbox...
I recently acquired a 16th-century print in a frame from the Unicorn Frame Shop in New York City. I am attaching a photograph of the label on the back of the frame. The telephone number looks quite old. It reminds me of telephone numbers from my youth in Jersey City in the 1950s. It may be older.
The correspondent was hopeful someone here might recall the shop, which was at 505 E. 12th St. between Avenue A and Avenue B (the current home of Dhom).

I’ve been on the same block since 1978 and I don’t remember it.

Well, it looks they were functioning in 1964 when they framed this pen and ink drawing by a Bleecker Street artist named Jack Levine

That’s where the raven was in the late 90’s, early 2000’s. Before that it was mamas the bodega with dusty cans because it was a cover for something else…. I bet if you spoke with someone older than 70 you might find some info- there’s a few who go to compos garden that are very friendly and might be able to help.

Or walk down closer to Ave B , same side and talk to the owner of the antique furniture store- he is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.

Raven! I loved that bar and its crowd. Paul the bartender/manager. After it closed down, they all moved to a new place in Williamsburg, can't remember its name.

505 is actually a few doors down from the Raven on 12th between Avenue A and B. It's where that newish restaurant Dhom is. Raven was right on the corner of 12th Street and Avenue A.
