We begin with 33-37 First Ave., a vacant three-building assemblage between Second Street and Third Street.
Demolition permits are already on file. While some asbestos abatement occurred over the summer, we haven't seen much other activity.
So far, no sign of any new building permits — or renderings to provide a clue as to the development in the works. Public records list R.M.H. Estates as the landlord of both properties.
New Double Dragon, the last business in these buildings, closed in July. Perhaps in 2024, owner Shawn Lin will open another quick-serve Chinese restaurant in a new location. At least we know where that great New Double Dragon signage is.

Anything new at 42 Second Ave?
42-46 2nd Avenue is tomorrow!
Is there any news about a New Double Dragon reopening? I know they mentioned that was the plan. That was my go-to spot for chinese :(
I own 50 2nd ave and would be happy to speak with you if you're going to do an article.
I am hoping that the New Double Dragon brothers will open a new location nearby very soon. We miss them.
I really miss the Double Dragon especially during this past Christmas season when I always used to go to them for my Chinese food. I ended up going to Mees on 1st Avenue which was far more expensive and not as good. I hope Double Dragon will reopen in a new spot in the LES/EV but given the crazy rents they are charging for commercial spaces I would be surprised if they would be able to re-open.
Hey anonymous at 9:49 am, yes, please send me an email at thepixeltrix at gmail. And to all those who asked about Shawn and New Double Dragon, I spoke with him today, he is still looking for an affordable space and hopes to return the neighborhood. I will surely keep you posted as soon as there is anything to report.
Yes, keep us posted/updated on Shawn and possible return of "New Double Dragon".
