Starting today (Monday—hi!), Abraço will be open on Mondays, a first in the cafe's 17-year history.
The summer hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (By the way, Abraço serves cocktails in the evening.)
And FYI: No laptops are allowed here (and no outside food or drinks, in case you need to be reminded of this here or anywhere else). And no barking dogs!
Abraço is at 81 E. Seventh St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue.

Great. I've reached the age where I've begun to forget when it's Monday, and then I show up there disappointed.
what is the deal with the "no barking dogs" sign?
My friend owns a cafe type place, and there is nothing more obnoxious than these entitled types and college students that think they can sit there on their laptop all day. Wanna get out a few emails or have a meeting for 30-60 mins with a coffee? Cool Otherwise GTFO.
Also, re: barking dogs @11:57 that's incredibly obvious... not sure what the question is. They probably had people that are oblivious and let their dogs sit there barking, or tied it up outside barking. That sound is very annoying when someone let's it go on and on. Very clear sign.

I remember when they opened across the street and the owner offered to let me take my china cup back to the laundrymat while I switched loads. Good to see their continued success.
Abraço takes the crown as the most overrated coffee shop in Manhattan. From the employees to the patrons, there's a pervasive attitude problem. As a Brazilian-Italian, it's disappointing to see such a shallow representation of our culture, especially when the coffee is subpar, and hardly anyone pronounces the name correctly. If they genuinely valued Brazilian culture, there would be more depth than merely serving coffee.
This is a wonderful place for satifing conversation, political debate, art, etc. what a cafe was. Not to mention the best coffee in the city. Delicious
