A for-rent sign is now in the front window.
The sit-down skewer shop, operated by Nobu vet Kacey Yeh and part of a Chinese chain, seemed to have a lot of potential. (Eater gave it high marks.)
Unfortunately, until very recently, the storefront was mostly obscured by the sidewalk bridge and scaffolding of the neighboring 9-story office building, which has seen a long slog toward completion. Plus, there are many casual food options on this block of St. Mark's Place.

It wasn't really clear what their "concept" was, just from looking at the door, and it was impossible to see deep inside in order to get a glimpse of what was going on.
This used to be Yakitori Taisho right? Seems hard to compete with a place that was super cheap and super well known with a concept that looks a little too undefined and expensive for this block
Taisho is still there a couple store fronts down
Wanted to give them a try, but never found the time. Hazard of NYC living.
