Because that's the definition of gentrification, skimming the best of what the citizens made of the neighborhood, using it for your own profit, and not giving props. TONY plays right into that cycle. "Your underground scene? We'll advertise it to people who moved here because they saw Sex and the City."
I'm glad that TONY didn't consult Jim to be the resource for the old school EV; otherwise, there'll be no more old school EV. The yunnies/yuppies/NYU kids will then have a complete take over of the EV.
Yeah... no respect.. We (East Village History Project) were used as a resource for much of this TONY article -- we put them in touch with people and gave some inside info -- but they failed to mention us anywhere. The only real paper left in this city is THE SHADOW...
I realized it was his work as soon as I saw your post yesterday, he's a one of a kind artist obviously. But I never thought about if they gave him credit for his image or not. Damn shame they didn't.
I bet they credited their staff photographer who snapped the photo though, right?

excellent point! if they're actually looking for old-school EV, then Jim is definitely it.
TONY is the antithesis of "cool."

@NYCD — Yep, the photographer received a credit...
@EVHP — Here's to the Shadow.
