We are reaching out to every one of our patrons and friends to please send your prayers and loving energy to Ray Deter at this time.
As some of you may have heard, Ray was in a very serious bicycle accident yesterday and is in critical condition. For those of you who are hearing this for the first time, we are so sorry to share this news in this manner, though we are grateful for the tool to reach many of you.
We believe your healing prayers, and energy and whatever loving means you have, can really help Ray pull through, and this is a request for just that.
At this time we ask that you please not call the bars, and we will keep you up to date.
The accident happened yesterday at 5:30 p.m. at West Broadway and Canal Street. Friends will post updates on the dba Facebook page.
[Updated] The Daily News had an item on the accident this morning... though at the time, the paper didn't have Ray's name yet. According to the article, a silver Jaguar that was driving east on Canal Street hit Ray. "The driver remained at the scene but received a summons for possessing a small amount of marijuana," the Daily News reported.

Ray's a really good guy and I hope he will recover fully.
My best to Ray and his family.
I'm so sorry to hear this - I hope he makes a quick recovery.
Sending positive thought's his way. I hope he recovers fully and as quickly as possible.
Love to you, Ray.
I was hit by a car there while riding a bike years ago. It was a NJ driver running at highway speeds fresh from the Holland Tunnel trying to turn on to West Broadway but he started his turn about a half block away crossing the yellow line well ahead of the corner. I wonder if it was the same here.
Please do not use this moment to discuss helmet wearing or negativity of any kind. Inappropriate and unkind. This is a very very tragic situation with a human being at it's core, with young sons. Please please be respectful.
We'd like to request that you pray for & send your loving healing thoughts & energy to Ray for his recovery. And we do ask at this time that you please do NOT visit the hospital, it's too overwhelming for the family, and they request you keep sending love. Likewise please don't call the bars right now, it's too huge to comprehend, everyone is going through a lot. Your thoughts & love are most appreciated.
wishing him the best. i dont know him, but everyone says great things about him.

Agreed. We missed that previous comment. We just removed it.
Get well soon homie
I don't know Ray, but I am very sorry to hear about his accident, and I will keep him and his family and friends in my thoughts.
I love the bar DBA. Don't know Ray but wish him well!!! Well wishes to you, Ray!!
Ray is a great guy and a brilliant business man. This is terrible news. You are loved up in here, recover soon.
Sending prayers and healing energy to Ray for a full recovery. The Deters were ever-present supporters and contributors at every event at our kids' school (and his boys are great too!)
Love and Strength!
Terrible. I feel so sad for his sons.
We send our love and prayers for your recovery.
Best wishes to Ray and family. Stay strong!
All the best healing energy to Ray and his family.
From New Orleans to New York... our thoughts are w/ Ray and his family and friends. d.b.a. in NOLA is an amazing place in the Marigny, and y'all are always welcome here. Much love, cheers...
dba was a wonderful realization. Best selection of distilled beverages that I have ever been to, if only for the human vibe.
Ray helped the schools of choice of District One, the elementary and the middle school survive.
He hosted parents coming together trying to figure it out. Always cool. Always cordial. Always informed.
Bikers and bladers, be careful out there. I am always chopping blocks on my kids to be safe on the street. I always say cars are dumb, they can't see a thing and the people at the wheel may be worse.
If your reading this Ray, Slainte. Thanks for your presence.
You did more good than, well, who can gauge.
Your heart was in it, and it will always be.
thanks
rest easy.
