There are several "appetizing" stores in Manhattan, including Barney Greengrass, Zabars and Sable (on the upper east side). Russ is the lone survivor on the LES.
And while Katz's is certainly worth waiting in line... It's not worth a line that long. Go back in a couple of hours, the bus tour will be gone.
This place has gone so downhill, me and my wife ordered a pastrami and brisket that was so chewy and fatty that we risked having the Heimlich maneuver preformed on us if we chose to finished the crap at16.00 a pop. Just a fatty, chewy, lunch, as well as unfriendly servers that seemed to be put out that I asked for more mustard to lubricate my esophagus to get there sandwich down. All the while being surrounded by tourists from every county. What a joy!Just look at these sheep in line above. Almost any place is better than this.
@Marty Wombacher: I believe the minimum for delivery is $200, so no.
@threepoint14r8: People don't line up for the "appetizing". Russ and Daughters and Katz's are completely different things for completely different occasions.
@Anonymous 12:27: Option A: Troll. Option B: Choade. Option C: Both. There is no D.

That's crazy to wait in that line when you can order it online in an instant and have it delivered.
They are waiting for that orgasmic moment to share with the world.Ohh--ohh
So great to see the unchanged, original great Katz's exterior!
Just up the block, btw, is Russ and Daughters, the BEST jewish appetizing store (and one of the last) in the entire tri-state area. Whitefish!!!!
Are they sending a salami to their boys in the Army?!?!?
